Sean Buhr is a singer, Recording Artist, songwriter, director, producer, and voice teacher based in New York City with strong ties to Los Angeles and Iowa. IN ADDITION, BUHR HAS DONE WORK WITH NEW CLASSICAL AND OPERATIC COMPOSITIONS IN NEW YORK CITY. SEAN PERFORMED AS A CONCERT SOLOIST FOR THE SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SUMMER FESTIVAL IN SHANGHAI, CHINA WITH THE NORTHEASTERN AMERICAN ARTS TROUPE. HE TRAVELED AND PERFORMED WITH THE DRAKE CHOIR THROUGHOUT ITALY, AUSTRIA, AND PARTS OF GERMANY AS WELL AS REGIONAL TOURING ACROSS THE MIDWEST AND WESTERN UNITED STATES. BUHR PARTICIPATED IN NATS AND WAS HONORABLE MENTION FINALIST AND SEMIFINALIST FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
Buhr earned his Master of Music in Vocal Performance specializing in Musical Theatre from New York University where he also earned an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy. Before graduating from NYU, Buhr was presented with the New York University Outstanding Achievement and Citizenship Award in Vocal Performance.
Sean Buhr has been an Adjunct Faculty member at NYU for four years now, teaching private voice to singers that have been in broadway shows, national tours, rock bands, and beginners. Buhr was a faculty member at Broadway Artists Alliance working for an American Idol Masterclass. He has performed masterclasses at Drake University and McSweeny's School of the Performing Arts. Buhr earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with minors in Musical Theatre and Acting from Drake University.
in 2012, buhr founded and started producing the Desiring The Arts Festival in Iowa. The festival has included professional singers, actors, instrumentalists, bands, singer-songwriters, visual artists, and fashion designers. The emphasis of Desiring The Arts Festival is investing in Iowa talent and bringing in special professional guests from outside the state of Iowa to help inspire, provoke thought, and of course entertain.
Buhr is the founder of The McSweeny-Buhr Scholarship for the Arts. He officially created the scholarship in August 2012 for graduating high school students to further pursue the arts. He produced and performed a two day benefit concert to raise money for the scholarship in which many performing and visual artists contributed their talents for the cause.
